Box Score Forwards Abby Howland and Taylor Trussler scored two goals each as the Blues defeated the Rams 4-1 on Friday, November 19.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues got the scoring started as forward Abby Howland was able to squeak the puck past Rams goalie Rachel Sealy. In the first, the Rams struggled with penalties giving up four, but unfortunately the Blues were not able to capitalize on those opportunities. Taylor Trussler was able to fire a one-timer from a beautiful pass from Natasha Athanasakos to give the Blues a 2-0 lead at the first intermission.
In the second period, the Rams were able to cut the Blues lead in half off of a goal from second-year forward Mia Morano. The Blues had multiple two-on-one opportunities, but it was a misplay from Sealy that allowed Howland to get her second goal of the game, with less than nine seconds left in the second.
Toronto was able to play some excellent defence in the third, preventing any comeback opportunities by the Rams. Natasha Athanasakos, a criminology major, was able to take the puck away from Rams forward Cailey Davis before  passing ito to Trussler for her second goal of the evening.
With the victory, the Blues were able to earn their fourth win of the season. Third-year goalie Erica Fryer made 11 saves for her third win.
UP NEXT: The Blues are back at home on Friday, November 26 as they take on another Toronto rival, the York Lions. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m.
