The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team fell 3-2 to the Nipissing Lakers, on Sunday, October 31 at Varsity Stadium.
Â
The Blues finish the regular season with a 6-3-1 record, in third place in the OUA Central division. The seventh-seeded Blues will travel to take on the second-seeded York Lions in OUA quarter-final action this Wednesday, November 3 at 8 p.m.Â
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED: Lakers veteran forward Jack Collins opened the scoring whipping a shot into the top corner (25'). Nino Nikolovski would respond with a solo dribble, finishing the sequence with a right-footed strike into the goal (45').
Â
Early in the second half, Lakers rookie midfielder Cedric Devos' 25-yard strike gave Nippising the early lead. Blues attacker Camillo Sibato would then link up with Colin O'Dwyer resulting in an O'Dwyer cross and Sibato finish to level things up once again (71').  A stroke of luck for the Lakers saw them go up 3-2 after the Blues conceded an own goal from a Lakers corner-kick.
