BLUES EDGED BY MUSTANGS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's tennis team almost pulled off an amazing comeback in the bronze-medal match at the 2020 Canadian university tennis championships on Saturday, October 2.

Down 3-0, the Blues evened the score at 3-3 but ultimately fell 4-3 to Western.

The come back was started by team co-captain Salma Dessouki with a close three-set win in the No. 5 singles match. This was followed by a straight-sets singles win from Winnie Choi in the No. 2 spot.

Janet Pham also came through at the No. 6 spot. The final match saw No. 4  Andrea Kuntjoro fighting it out in the third set and narrowly losing to give Western the bronze medal.

UP NEXT: The Blues host an OUA regional qualifier next weekend, October 9-10, and at Mayfair East.
