BLUES TAKE CARE OF MARUADERS IN EXHIBITION MATCH

On the evening of Tuesday, October 26, the Varsity Blues men's water polo team had their third clash of the year with the McMaster Marauders.

On the heels of last weekend's convincing 23-4 win over Western, Toronto's captain Diego Gonzalez pointed out that he was very excited to see how his squad could improve even more in the game this Tuesday.', hinting at new strategies the team has been working on behind the scenes.

Once the contest began, the Blues got off to an incredible start. Pouring on the offence, Toronto scored nine goals in seven minutes jumping out to an early advantage. Although inexperienced, Camilo Cortez, Aiden Masters, James Glaser and Timmy Pourkazemi all managed to make their mark on the scoresheet. Veterans Bruno Marunica and captain Diego Gonzalez also pitched in for the Blues.

Despite being pressured for much of the contest, the Marauders were unwilling to go down without a fight. The visitors answered with two goals of their own in the same period, a feat they would repeat in every quarter, except one.

As their lead continued to grow, the Blues began working in some new tactics and strategies which seemed to pay off. Using the entire depth of their roster, Toronto cruised to a 22-7 victory over the Marauders.

While the contest was only an exhibition match, the next time these two teams meet, it will be for much more. On November 27th, the two sides will do battle again, but this time in the OUA regional finals. In a round-robin style tournament, the Blues and Marauders will also be joined by the Western Mustangs with a spot in the OUA Final on the line.
