The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team recorded their fifth win of the 2021 season topping the Algoma Thunderbirds 6-0 on Sunday, October 25 at Varsity Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â Looking to build off their nine goal performance the day before, the Blues started the match strong netting three of their six goals in the first half.
First-year forward Colin O'Dwyer opened the scoring through the cross of rookie midfielder Camilo Sibato (3'). Sibato's involvement would prove to only grow from there setting up fifth-year forward Anthony Sousa for his second of the year (9'). Sibato would then go on to net one of his own, battling off two Thunderbird defenders for the goal (39').
Rookie midfielder Leo Nakabayashi opened the Blues account in the second half, netting a set piece around the Thunderbrids defensive wall (54'). O'Dwyer would then net his second of the game off a cross from second half substitute and second-year forward, Artem Tesker (66'). Tesker scored the game's sixth and final goal following a corner from Nakabayashi (78').
Blues third-year goalkeeper Sebastian Sgarbossa faced four shots in the contest, saving all of them. Sgarbossa's performance was highlighted by a penalty save in the 86
th minute.
