The No. 2 University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team played to a 2-2 tie with the No. 5 York Lions on Wednesday night (Oct. 20) at York Stadium.

With the tie, the Blues wrap up the regular season with an undefeated 6-0-2 record in first place in the OUA East division.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Veteran forward Anna Costanzo drew a foul as the first quarter expired, awarding the Blues a penalty stroke. OUA leading scorer Sam McCrory stepped in and opened the scoring, giving the Blues a 1-0 advantage after 15 minutes of action.

McCrory netted her second of the game off a penalty corner and U of T took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Lions managed to come back, scoring two in the final frame to earn the single point.

UP NEXT: The Blues will host the Lions in OUA semi-final action on Saturday, October 30 at Back Campus Fields. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
