BLUES DOWN LIONS, TO HOST OUA FINAL

The No. 2 nationally-ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team earned a 2-1 OUA semifinal victory over the York Lions on Saturday, October 30 at Back Campus.
 
With the win, the Blues will host the Guelph Gryphons in the OUA final next Sunday, November 7 at Back Campus at 2 pm. Tickets for the OUA final will go on sale on Tuesday, November 2 at 1 p.m.
 
The winner of the OUA final will host the Canada West champion Victoria Vikes in the 2021 U SPORTS national championship, November 12-14.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Blues opened the scoring in the third minute as Evianne Rovers buried a rebound off a penalty corner. The Lions responded though as Caitlin Miller found the back of the net, also off a penalty corner opportunity.
 
A scoreless second quarter saw the game deadlocked at 1-1 at halftime.
 
OUA leading scorer Sam McCrory notched the eventual game-winner in the 45th minute off another penalty corner chance.
 
Blues netminder Deepi Gill made two saves in the victory.
