BLUES WELCOME REED TO 2021-22 RECRUITING CLASS

The University of Toronto women's basketball program is pleased to announce that Gabby Reed has signed a letter of intent and committed to playing for the Varsity Blues, beginning in the 2021-22 season.

A 5-foot-9 guard, Reed joins the Blues from Westfield High School in her hometown of Chantilly, Virginia. She is no stranger to U of T as her brother, Marshall, is currently a member of the Varsity Blues men's basketball team.

"I'm really looking forward to the addition of Gabby this upcoming season," said Varsity Blues interim head coach Tamara Tatham. "Off the court, her energy and outgoing nature will be a great fit for our team. Her ability to play in transition and play off the bounce, while being able to provide length and anticipation on defence really establishes her as a two-way player. Gabby's future as a Varsity Blue is very bright."

Reed has twice been named to the all-district team and once named to the all-region team during her high school career. She has also suited up for Matrix AAU in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL).

"I choose U of T because I trust the university and I know that I will become my best self there," said Reed. "I am looking forward to meeting my teammates and furthering my relationship with Coach Tatham."

Students who sign a letter of intent and/or commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
