ZACK LEADS BLUES WITH 5TH PLACE FINISH AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Three members of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues wrestling teams competed at the 2020 U SPORTS championships, February 21-22, at Brock University.

Leading the way was second-year international relations major Rachel Zack. Zack picked up a fifth-place finish in the women's 72kg category following a decisive victory in the consolation final. The Toronto native fell to Brock's Leigha Smith and Alberta's Haley Heffel, before defeating Calgary's Robyn Fisk to wrap up pool play with a 1-2 record.

Rookie wrestler Kriti Saxena placed sixth overall in the women's 59kg class. The mechanical engineering major fell to Calgary's Amy Bellavia and York's Brea Rodgers, before defeating McMaster's Aylah Mayali 7-4 in pool play to earn a spot in the fifth-place match on Saturday. There, Saxena met a tough opponent in Guelph's Jayden Sparks and dropped an 8-4 decision.

Fellow rookie Nick Adams rounded out Toronto's results at Brock with a seventh-place finish in the men's 57kg event.
