JARRETT CLAIMS NATIONAL SILVER MEDAL

University of Toronto Varsity Blues wrestler Brooke Jarrett continued her ascent as a serious threat in the 63 kg category, capturing a silver medal this past weekend (Mar. 20-22) at the ASIC Junior Canadian wrestling championship in St. Catherines, Ontario.

Representing Toronto's Team Impact Wrestling Club, who tied for third overall in the junior female team point's race out of 20 competing teams from across the country, Jarrett out maneuvered Maghan Wild of Regina's Cattown Wrestling Club to claim a 10-0 victory in her first match of the event.

Jarrett followed the impressive opening bout with a closely contested 4-0 triumph over Sidhu Livleen from the Burnaby Mountain Wrestling Club. Finally, Jarrett's competition ended in a hard-fought battle with Taylor Cartwright of the University of Calgary Dinos falling 7-0, handing the Varsity Blues standout the silver medal.

Jarrett's 2015-16 has been filled with outstanding performances claiming fourth place on the CIS stage, bronze at the OUA championship, silver at the York Open, and gold at the 2015 under-21 provincial championship. This latest medal added to the collection only continues to point to a bright future for the second-year human biology and mental health studies student-athlete.
