Despite a late push, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team fell to an 84-80 defeat to the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday evening (Jan. 31) at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

TORONTO STATS:Â Evan Shadkami notched 20+ points for the eighth time this season as he led the Blues in scoring with 21 points, 15 of which came from three-point range.

Fifth-year guard Chris Barrett recorded a season-high eight assists to lead the team in that category. Barrett was also one of four Blues players in double figures for points with 12.

Along with Shadkami and Barrett, Eric Rwahwire and Eli Mouyal scored double digits, tallying 14 and 15 points, respectively. All of Rwahwire's points came in the second half, while Mouyal found his way into the highlight reel with a spectacular buzzer beater at the end of the first.

Somachi Agbapu played a key role on the defensive end, as he led the team with eight rebounds and two blocks. Agbapu also co-led the team in steals alongside Barrett and Jeremy Aibi, registering two each over the course of the game.
