The No. 7 nationally-ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to the No. 6 Ryerson Rams on Saturday, September 28 at Downsview Park.
The loss marks Toronto's first of the season as they drop to 5-1-2 in the OUA East division. The Blues sit in third place, with one game in hand over the Rams (6-1-2).
HOW IT HAPPENED: Ryerson opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Abdallah El-Chanti found the back of the net. The home team took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Kai Martin put the Rams up by two in the 49th minute. The Blues finally got on the board in the 90th minute when team captain Nikola Stakic made good on a penalty kick.Â
Blues netminder Sebastian Sgarbossa made five saves in the loss.Â
UP NEXT: The Blues are back in action tomorrow as they travel to Peterborough, Ont., to take on the Trent Excalibur. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
