The No. 8 nationally ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team defeated the York Lions 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-16) on Friday, February 22 at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.
PLAYOFF PICTURE: Toronto wraps up the regular season hosting the Nipissing Lakers tomorrow night at Goldring Centre at 6 p.m. A U of T victory would clinch home-court advantage for the OUA quarter-finals next Saturday, March 2. Regardless of the result, the Blues will take on the Queen's Gaels in the first round of the playoffs next week.
TORONTO STATS: Fourth-year right side hitter Alina Dormann led all players with 16.5 points off of 13 kills, two aces and 1.5 blocks, while adding a game-high 12 digs as well.
Fifth-year veteran Anna Feore recorded 13 points off of 10 kills and three aces, and had nine digs on the night.
Sophomore middle Jenna Woock notched 8.5 points off of seven kills and 1.5 blocks. Rookie setter Hayley Goodwin tallied 24 assists and five digs in the win.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS: Down 16-10 at the second set technical timeout, the Blues went on an 11-0 run to eventually take the set 25-20.
