BLUES HOST GRYPHONS IN CUFLA PLAYOFF ACTION

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's lacrosse team is one win away from advancing to the 2019 CUFLA Baggataway Cup as they host the Guelph Gryphons in the first round of the playoffs this Saturday, November 2 at Varsity Stadium.

Game time is set for 1 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

"The last game we played Guelph was extremely close, it truly could have gone either way," said Varsity Blues head coach Joe Nizich. "I expect another tough match against them on Saturday.  Our team is playing really well right now and we hope take this momentum into the playoffs."

The Blues earned their best regular-season finish since 2011, finishing third in the West division with a 6-4 record. Toronto has been red hot through the last three weeks, ending the season on a four-game win streak, including a 6-5 victory over the Gryphons.

The winner of Saturday's contest advances to the 2019 Baggataway Cup, November 8-11, hosted by McGill University in Montreal.

Third-year attack Darren Elliott has led the Blues offensively, co-leading the West division with 22 goals and ranking third with 31 points. Blues captain Jason Barnable also sat second in the West with 15 assists this season.
