The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team advanced to the OUA Final Four for the first time since 2004, following a 3-0 win over the No. 5 Queen's Gael's on Sunday, October 27 at Queen's University.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â Battling a slick turf and wet conditions, the Blues opened the scoring in the first half, as third-year University of Albany transfer Miranda Badovinac's header would put away Daniella Cipriano's rebound (16').
Â
Despite the Gael's pressure, the Blues dominance would continue following halftime. Miranda Badovinac would double her tally on the day (48'), before combining with fifth-year Queen's transfer Jenny Wolever to put the Blues up by three (58').
Â
Fourth-year goalkeeper, Levanta Staggolis faced seven shots in the contest, saving all of them, to secure the Blues seventh clean sheet of the season.
Â
UP NEXT:Â The Blues will play their first OUA Final Four match this Friday, November 1 vs. Western. More details to follow.
