The No. 4 nationally-ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team fell 3-2 (21-25, 25-16, 25-27, 25-19, 13-15) to the No. 2 Ryerson Rams in their 2019-20 season opener on Saturday, October 26 at Mattamy Athletic Centre.
TORONTO STATS: Fifth-year right side hitter Alina Dormann led all players with 24.5 points off of 22 kills, two aces and an assisted block, while also adding nine digs.
Both Jenna Woock and Brianna Patrick racked up 12 points. Woock had nine kills, two aces and two assisted blocks, while Patrick notched eight kills, a game-high three aces and two assisted blocks and had 10 digs on the night.
Fifth-year left side hitter Caleigh Cruickshank racked up 11.5 points and 12 digs in her first intercollegiate game since 2016, while fellow fifth-year veteran Anna Licht recorded 10.5 points off of seven kills and 3.5 blocks.
Rookie setter Lidya Canturk tallied 43 assists, 12 digs and 5.5 points, while fifth-year libero Asli Ersozoglu recorded a team-high 23 digs in her first intercollegiate game since 2016 as well.
UP NEXT: The Blues are back in action tomorrow (Oct. 27) as they host the Lakehead Thunderwolves in their 2019-20 home opener. Opening serve is set for 1 p.m.
