BADOVINAC'S HEADER SENDS BLUES TO NEXT ROUND

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team advanced to the OUA quarter-final round following a 1-0 win over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Wednesday, October 23 at Varsity Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Following an early penalty miss, the Blues bounced back and opened the scoring 16 minutes into the first half, with Miranda Badovinac planting a header from Jenny Wolever's short-range cross into the back of the net.

The Blues stayed dominant after halftime, with Anna Crone and Rena Nakajima leading the line to ensure Toronto kept their sixth clean sheet of the season.

Captain Maddie Mackay had the Blues best chance of the second half, forcing a good save from Ridgebacks goalkeeper Alicia Chisholm.

Toronto fended off late pressure by the visiting Ridgebacks to secure their spot in the quarter-finals.
