The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team booked their place in the OUA East division quarter-finals following a dominant 6-0 win over the Nipissing Lakers on Wednesday, October 23 at Varsity Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Blues got off to the perfect start, with Nikola Stakic's beautifully placed through-ball finding Atchu Sivananthan, who comfortably found the bottom corner to put Toronto ahead after just three minutes.
Yousef Helmy then scored his first goal of the season, picking up a loose ball from a poor defensive clearance to double Toronto's lead.
Nicholas Osorio then got in on the act, scoring a fine finish from just outside the penalty area to keep Toronto in the driving seat.
In the second half, Toronto showed no signs of slowing down, as Sivananthan beat three Laker defenders to score his second and the Blues fourth goal of the game.
Substitute Jacob Doroszkiewicz then scored Toronto's fifth with just under 20 minutes left to play, making this the third game this season where the Blues have scored five goals or more.
The Blues then equaled their biggest win of the season, as Matthew Roberts came off the bench to score his first goal since returning from injury, sealing an emphatic 6-0 win for Toronto.
Stefan Dusciuc helped the Blues keep their sixth clean sheet of the season, with the pick of his saves coming from a Nipissing free kick, which he parried onto the post.
