The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team wrapped up their 2019-20 pre-season schedule with three losses at the Rouge et Or tournament in Quebec.
Bishop's 58, Toronto 52
Trailing 47-35 heading into the final frame, the Blues outscored Bishop's 17-11 in the fourth quarter to bring the game within six. Fourth-year forward Sarah Bennett led the Blues with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, while also adding two assists and three steals in the narrow loss. Christine Jurcau added 15 points and three assists, while Nada Radonjic had 10 points and eight boards.
Laval 76, Toronto 53
Bennett once again led the Blues, notching a double-double of 15 points and 15 boards, while Jurcau recorded a team-high 17 points in the loss. Radonjic chipped in with nine points, while Ellen Ougrinov had eight boards and three assists.
UPEI 77, Toronto 55
Radonjic notched a team-high 15 points, while Bennett had 12 points on the day. Ougrinov tallied 11 points and a team-high six boards.
UP NEXT: The Blues kick off their 2019-20 regular season this Wednesday, October 23 as they travel to Waterloo, Ont., to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
