Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

BLUES SURGE LATE TO VICTORY

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team defeated the Carleton Ravens 2-1 on Sunday afternoon (Oct 13) at Varsity Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues dominated play in the first half. They took six shots, while holding Carleton to only one. Despite the opportunities, Toronto couldn't find the back of the net and headed into the half tied at zero.

Carleton got things going quickly in the second half with a goal from Chloe Doherty in the 47th minute. The Blues continued to push but couldn't get anything past Ravens goalkeeper Sophie Ehlebracht. In the 80th minute, third-year striker Erin Kelly took a nice pass from Miranda Badovinac and buried a goal to tie the game. Five minutes later, Valentina Greco found the back of the net off of a corner to push the Varsity Blues into the lead late in the game.

With the Blues victory, they clinch home field advantage in the first round of the OUA playoffs.

UP NEXT: Toronto heads to Ottawa to close out their regular season against the No. 1 Ottawa Gee-gees and the Carleton Ravens next weekend (Oct 19-20).
