The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's lacrosse team fell 20-9 to the Brock Badgers on Friday, September 28 at Varsity Stadium.
Toronto opened the scoring at 17:54 of the first quarter on a goal by Darren Elliott, assisted by fellow attack Jason Barnable. Brock struck back with three goals of their own before attack AJ Masson answered for U of T late in the first. Brock scored again less than a minute later to take a 4-2 lead after the first quarter.
Toronto came back with three goals in the second quarter by middie Nick Pison, Barnable and Elliott's second of the game. However, the Badgers had five goals in the frame to take a 9-5 lead at the half.
In the third quarter the Blues squeezed two goals by Barnable and Elliott between three opening and three closing goals by Brock.
According to Blues head coach Joe Nizich, "Brock was able to score in bunches on fast breaks off of our turnovers. We were more deliberate with our offence and the extra man offence was very efficient, scoring on six man-up opportunities. But every time we would score it seemed Brock answered with a bunch of their own."
The Badgers led 15-7 after the third quarter.
Brock continued their blitz in the fourth with five goals to two for Toronto.
The Blues next game is at home Sunday night, September 30 at 7:00 pm.
