Fourth-year striker Natasha Klasios notched a goal and an assist to lead the Unviersity of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over the Ryerson Rams on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 2) at Varsity Stadium.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED: Klasios opened the scoring in the 18th minute, sending a wide angled shot into the far side of the net. The Unionville, Ont., native had a chance to put the Blues up by two as she was awarded a penalty shot in the final moments of the first half, but Rams goalkeeper Elisa Lapadula made a diving save. The Blues added an insurance marker in the 90th minute as Klasios ran down the field and sent a nice cross to sophomore midfielder Kristin Parkes, who made no mistake in finding the back of the net. Third-year Blues goalkeeper Vanna Staggolis made five saves in the clean sheet victory.Â
Â
UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues host the Carleton Ravens next Saturday, September 8 at Varsity Stadium. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
