BLUES DROP OT DECISION TO LIONS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team fell 2-1 in overtime to the York Lions in exhibition action on Friday, September 14 at Canlan Ice Sports.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Lions got out to a 1-0 lead midway through the first period and held that advantage through 40 minutes of play. Blues defenceman Karina Lenko evened the score with just over six minutes remaining in the third period to force overtime. York proved victorious as Madison Daviey scored in the dying seconds of the extra frame. Rookie netminder Erica Fryer posted 29 saves in the loss.

UP NEXT: The Blues travel to Montreal and take on the Concordia Stingers next Friday (Sept 21) at 7 p.m., before battling the McGill Martlets on Day 1 of their Old Four tournament.
