Third-year forward Stephanie Ayres tallied two goals and four points as the University of Toronto women's hockey team beat the Leaside Junior Wildcats 7-0 in exhibition play on Tuesday night (Sept. 11) at Varsity Arena.
Ayres scored the first two goals of the contest, one at 7:23 in the first period and the other one a little later at 15:47. Chenez Power pushed U oft T's advantage to 3-0 just two minutes later.
In the second period, Gabrielle De Serres found the back of the net just five minutes into the frame and Kassie Roache followed it up at 15:32. Toronto led 5-0 after 40 minutes of action.
Third-year defencemen Shaelynn Waite and first-year forward Taylor Trussler registered the final two markers in the third period.
Fifth-year defencemen Julia Szulewska and third-year forward Mathilde De Serres each recorded three assists, while first-year goalie Erica Fryer made eight saves in the shutout victory.
Toronto continues their pre-season schedule on Thursday, September 13 when they travel down the road to battle the Ryerson Rams. Puck drop is set for 7:15 p.m.
