Fifth-year striker Chelsea Cheung scored in the 82nd minute to lead the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over the UOIT Ridgebacks on Sunday, August 26 at Varsity Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Ridgebacks forward Alexis Kirton opened the scoring in the 15th minute, chipping the ball over Blues goalkeeper Vanna Staggolis and into the net. The Blues responded before the half as sophomore midfielder Kristin Parkes scored off a U of T corner kick. The game was deadlocked at 1-1 at the half. Cheung broke the stalemate in the 82nd minute, burying a Natasha Klasios rebound to give the Blues their first victory over UOIT since 2015. Staggolis ended the match with seven saves. 


 
UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues host the Ryerson Rams next Sunday, September 2 at Varsity Stadium. The match is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
