The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's tennis team defeated the UNB Varsity Reds 7-0 in semi-final action at the 2018 Canadian University Championships on Saturday August 11 at the Rogers Cup.
The Blues will take on the Montreal Carabins, who defeated the Alberta Golden Bears in the other side of the draw to advance to the finals.
U of T No. 1 singles and doubles standout Sasha Obucina led the way with a doubles win with partner Nathan Wong 8-1. This was soon followed by wins by the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams. Obucina and all his teammates followed up with singles wins to secure the team win.
The gold-medal match is set for tomorrow, Sunday, August 12 at the Aviva Centre at York University. Doubles matches will start at 10:30 a.m., followed by the singles matches.
