The University of Toronto Varsity Blues notched a narrow 8-6 win over the McMaster Marauders in semi-final action at the 2018 OUA men's water polo championship on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 1) at Varsity Pool.
The Queen's Gaels defeated the Carleton Ravens, 6-5, in a shootout in the second semifinal of the day.
Toronto and Queen's will meet in tomorrow's gold-medal match at 3:45 p.m.
The Blues got out to a 4-2 lead after the first quarter, but the Marauders battled back and brought the game within one (5-4) at halftime. Toronto added two in the third quarter and held off McMaster the rest of the way.
Marko Avdalovic led the Blues with two goals, while Cameron Carter, Stefan Mitic, Daniel Ugray, Richard Laurie, Euan Scoffield and Sanilo Seskar each scored once in the win.
McMaster was paced by Orioc Horarra's two goals, with Colin Cotterjohn, Jon Spence, Radu Plaiasu, Amr and Ibbraam scoring one apiece in the loss.
