The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team came within two points in the third quarter but ultimately dropped a 67-47 decision to the No. 3 McMaster Marauders on Saturday, November 17 in Hamilton, Ont.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Marauders got out to an 18-8 first-quarter lead and went onto take a 28-19 lead into halftime. The Blues came out on fire in the third quarter, as fourth-year guard Keyira Parkes drained a three to cap off a 13-6 run and bring U of T within two points (34-32). McMaster responded though, ending the frame on a 12-4 run of their own to extend the lead for good.
TORONTO STATS: Parkes led the Blues with 11 points, six boards, two assists and one steal, while fellow fourth-year veteran Charlotte Collyer had nine points and six rebounds on the night. Nada Radonjic posted seven points, while rookies Lauren Boers and Jessica Muha each had six points in the loss.
UP NEXT: U of T returns home next Friday, November 23 as they host the Western Mustangs at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
