The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team fell 2-1 in overtime to the Ryerson Rams in exhibition action on Friday, October 5 at Varsity Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Rams got out to a 1-0 lead with just under six minutes left in the first period thanks to a goal by third-year forward Elexa Pakozdy. That would remain the score until midway through the second period when third-year Blues forward Breanna Berndsen put one past Rachel Seeley. The third period would remain scoreless, sending the game into a 3-on-3 overtime period. Ryerson's Laura Ball netted the game-winner with two minutes remaining in the extra frame.
Rookie netminder Erica Fryer made 16 saves in the loss.
UP NEXT: The Blues are back in action tomorrow (Oct. 6) when they host the York Lions in their final pre-season tilt before the season open next Saturday, October 13 against Windsor.
