The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 2-1 to the Laurentian Voyageurs on Saturday, October 20 in Sudbury, Ont.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Voyageurs opened the scoring on the powerplay 7:04 into the first period as Nicolas Dionne found the back of the net. Toronto responded four minutes later though as Joey Manchurek sent a nice pass to Kevin Lavoie, who made no mistake on the partial breakaway. The goal marked Lavoie's first as a Varsity Blue.
The two teams remained deadlocked through regulation and overtime. Laurentian's Jacob Smith scored the lone goal in the shootout to seal the home team's victory.
Second-year Blues netminder Frederic Foulem made 32 saves in the loss.
UP NEXT: The Blues return home next Friday, October 26 as they host the McGill Redmen at Varsity Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
