WOMEN'S HOCKEY HOSTS RAMS, BADGERS THIS WEEKEND

The No. 10 nationally ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team close out their regular season hosting the Ryerson Rams and Brock Badgers this Thursday (Feb. 16) and Saturday (Feb. 18) nights at Varsity Arena.

Puck drop on both nights is set for 7 p.m. Advance tickets are on sale now. The Blues will also be honouring four graduating players in a special ceremony prior to Saturday night's puck drop.

U of T is 13-2-7-0 (W-OTW-L-OTL) and in third place in the OUA standings, five points behind the Nipissing Lakers (13-3-3-3) and four points ahead of the Waterloo Warriors (11-2-7-2). The Blues have clinched home-ice advantage for the first round of the playoffs and will await the final games of the regular season this weekend to determine their quarter-final opponent.

The Blues are coming off a five-point weekend after defeating the Lakers in overtime and Laurentian Voyageurs at home this weekend.

Fifth-year forward Taylor Day, who became only the eighth player in program history to reach 100 career points last weekend, leads the Blues and ranks third in the OUA with 25 points (15 G, 10 A).

Team captain Kristi Riseley has notched eight points and nine assists for 17 points so far this season, while netminders Katey Teekasingh and Valencia Yordanov hold .935 and .944 save percentages, respectively.

The Ryerson Rams are 4-2-12-4 and have been eliminated from playoff contention; however, the Rams stunned the Blues in their early-season meeting, 2-0, at Mattamy Athletic Centre. They are led by sophomore forward Kryshanda Green, who has scored nine goals and added nine assists for 18 points.

The Brock Badgers are 8-3-9-2 and in ninth place, but only two points out of a playoff position. Annie Berg tops the Badgers with 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points, while Christina Ieradi has also scored 10 goals this season.
