THREE BLUES HONOURED AT U SPORTS GALA

University of Toronto Varsity Blues co-captains Devon Bowyer and Lukas MacNaughton were named second team all-Canadians, while Marko Mandekic was named to the all-rookie team at the U SPORTS men's soccer awards gala on Wednesday night (Nov. 8) in Kamloops, B.C.

A five-time OUA all-star, Bowyer earns his first all-Canadian nod in 2017. A Toronto native, Bowyer dressed in 71 matches over his Varsity Blues career, recording two goals and five assists from his defensive position, including one assist this season.

MacNaughton, a four-time OUA all-star, boasts his second career all-Canadian honour after also being named to the second team in 2015. Scoring five goals in 2017, the Brussels, Belgium native lifted his career total to 17, an impressive feat for the defensive midfielder. MacNaughton guided the Varsity Blues attack from the back, proving to be especially effective from set pieces.

A first-year midfielder from Kitchener, Ont., Mandekic was named a member of the inaugural U SPORTS men's soccer all-rookie team. Mandekic proved to be a strong table setter for the Blues, picking up two goals and four assists in his first season.
