BLUES DROP OT DECISION IN SUDBURY

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team overcame a two-goal deficit but ultimately fell, 3-2 in overtime, to the Laurentian Voyageurs on Saturday evening (Nov. 18) in Sudbury, Ont.
 
Laurentian's Marie-Pierre Pelissou opened the scoring midway through the first period and the home team took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
 
The Voyageurs went up by two late in the second period as Myla McCormick found the back of the net; but the Blues responded as sophomore forward Stephanie Ayres scored her second goal in as many days to cut the deficit back to one after 40 minutes of action.
 
Third-year forward Jessica Robichaud then tied the game, scoring her second goal of the season 3:03 into the third period.
 
Laurentian's Samantha Morell proved to be the game's hero, scoring 34 seconds into the overtime period to seal the victory.
 
Third-year Blues netminder Valencia Yordanov posted an impressive 42 saves in the loss.
 
The Varsity Blues are back in action next Friday, November 24 as they travel to take on the UOIT Ridgebacks in a School Day Game. Puck drop is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
