ATKINSON SHINES IN LOSS AT GUELPH

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team dropped a 69-52 decision to the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 18) in Guelph, Ont.
 
With the loss the Blues drop to 2-4 and sit sixth in the OUA East division, while the Gryphons improve to 3-4 and are tied for fourth in the West.
 
Fifth-year guard Rahshida Atkinson led all players with 17 points, while adding four steals and one board on the day. Fellow fifth-year veteran Diedre Edwards reached double digits, recording 12 points, five steals, two assists and two rebounds.
 
Third-year forward Sarah Bennett added eight points and four rebounds, while Nada Radonjic had seven points and a team-high nine boards in the loss.
 
Guelph was paced by Ashley Wheeler's double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Burke Bechard tallied 11 points and six rebounds in the win.
 
The Varsity Blues return to action next Friday, November 24 as they host the Laurier Golden Hawks at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
