The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team tied the Guelph Gryphons 1-1 before defeating the Western Mustangs 5-0 to wrap up the 2017 regular season on Sunday, October 22 at York University.

The Blues finish the season in third place with a 6-3-3 record. As the No. 3 seed, Toronto will open next week's OUA championship versus the No. 6 McGill Martlets in quarter-final action on Friday at 11 a.m.

Hilary Ziraldo, back from injury, opened the scoring in the first game of the day, getting the Blues on the board in the 37th minute of the match.

Guelph's Alexa Corrado evened the score 10 minutes later and neither team was able to find the back of the net again.

In the second game of the day, Emily Ziraldo scored a first-half hat trick to put Toronto up 3-0 at the midway point of the match. Veteran forward Nicole Spring added two goals in the second half to round out the scoring.

Third-year goalie Sara Fredo earned the win in net.
