Hosting the Waterloo Warriors and Queen's Gaels at Back Campus, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team posted back-to-back wins on Saturday, October 14.
In the first game of the day versus the Warriors, third-year defender Julia Costanzo notched the first goal of the match and eventual game-winner in the fourth minute of action.
Playing in her first game of the season, veteran Morgan Sleeth scored to put the Blues ahead 2-0 just before the half.
Â
Fellow veterans Megan Johansen and Taylor Fleck both scored in the second half to round out a 4-0 shutout victory.
The scoring continued for the Blues in the second game of the day against the Gaels with three first half goals from Emily Ziraldo, Taylor Fleck, and Anna Costanzo.
Queen's would score one in the second period to breakup U of T goalkeeper Sara Fredo's attempt at a second shutout of the day, but a final marker from Isabella Watson secured the 4-1 win for Toronto.
The Varsity Blues are back in action tomorrow morning (Oct. 15) as they host the McGill Martlets at Back Campus. Game time is set for 10 a.m. The Blues will be celebrating their annual Think Pink game with a special pre-game ceremony at 9 a.m.
