The Varsity Blues men's lacrosse team defeated the Laurier Golden Hawks 12-9 on Sunday, September 18 at Varsity Stadium.

The Blues dominated the first quarter, breaking on to the score sheet first with a great goal from Whitby, Ont., native Jason Barnable that set the tone for the rest of the game.

Blues goalie, and Peterborough native, Riley McGillis made some huge saves in the second and fourth quarter to keep the Blues ahead.

However, the Golden Hawks gave the Blues a challenge in the fourth, coming close to equalizing the game but ultimately falling short.

Barnable led the Blues with four goals and one assist, while AJ Masson had two goals and three helpers on the night.

Mitch De Snoo tallied three goals, with Owen Farnworth, Alex Emerson and Justin Morandin also adding single tallies in the win.

The Varsity Blues return to action Friday, September 23 when they host Brock University at Varsity Stadium. Game starts at 7 p.m.
