The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's lacrosse team fell 20-11 to the Western Mustangs Sunday (Sept. 11) night at Varsity Stadium.
2015 CUFLA leading goal scorer and all-star Mitch De Snoo continued to showcase his offensive prowess scoring five goals in the loss while adding two assists. De Snoo currently leads the CUFLA in both points and goals this season after two games with eight markers and 14 total points.
Falling behind 4-0 in the early going the Varsity Blues were forced to play catch-up in the Sunday night tilt with the Mustangs as U of T found themselves down 13-4 at the end of the first half.
The tough first-half then transitioned to a well matched second, where U of T and Western went goal-for-goal scoring seven apiece, showcasing the Blues ability to compete.
Joining De Snoo on the score sheet were fifth-year AJ Masson and 2015 CUFLA outstanding rookie Jason Barnable who collected two goals each while second-year Owen Farnworth and first-year Alex Emerson chipped in with single markers.
The Varsity Blues will look to bounce back this weekend as they complete a home-and-home with the Laurier Golden Hawks beginning Friday, September 16 in Waterloo before returning to Varsity Stadium Sunday, September 18. Friday's start is scheduled for 8 p.m. while home action on Sunday will begin at 7 p.m.
