Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team defeated the Windsor Lancers 4-1 on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 5) at Varsity Arena.
The Blues came out strong putting 15 shots on net in the first period to keep Lancers goalie Morgan Farrow busy, but the Windsor backstop stood tall through the first 20 minutes.
U of T then got on the score sheet first with a goal from second-year Jessica Robichaud as she sent a hard shot on net that just trickled past Farrow at 3:59 into the second period.
Â
The Lancers quickly responded with a goal from Larissa Borowiec, however, just 17 seconds later the Blues took back the lead with a goal from first-year Stephanie Ayres.
Early in the third period, veteran Taylor Day scored an insurance goal for the Blues skating through a pair of Lancer defenders before sliding the puck past Farrow.
Day then scored again with a top shelf goal off a breakaway pass from fellow veteran Kristi Riseley to further solidify the Blues win.
Â
Blues goalie Valencia Yordanov posted 30 saves in the win.
The Blue and White are back in action tomorrow (Nov. 6) against the Western Mustangs at Varsity Arena. The game will be streamed live on OUA.tv with puck drop set for 3 p.m.
