The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's rugby team dropped a 45-19 decision to the visiting RMC Paladins Friday night (Oct. 7) at Varsity Stadium.
Battling against a 21-0 RMC halftime lead, the Varsity Blues scored three second half tries including two in the final five minutes but the comeback was not to be.
Powering through the Paladins defence third-year captain Brandon Langevin secured the first points of the game for the Blues in the 60th minute.
Fellow third-year Scott Maguire then scored late, utilizing a crafty play racing by the RMC defence to a loose ball kicked into the in-goal area getting a hand to it before the Paladins could recover.
U of T's scoring was rounded out by Kirk Regan in the final seconds of the match.
Maguire also collected two conversions on the night.
Toronto will now prepare to take on the McMaster Marauders at Varsity Stadium next Saturday, October 15.
