SLOW START HURTS BLUES IN SEASON FINALE

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's lacrosse team dropped a 19-8 decision to the Guelph Gryphons Sunday afternoon (Oct. 23) to end their regular season with a 4-7 record placing them fifth in the CUFLA West division.

A slow first half hurt the Blues as they entered the break trailing Guelph 10-3.

U of T did show a spark in the third quarter scoring five goals in the period to cut the Gryphons lead down to five, but a scoreless fourth prevented the Blues from closing the regular season with the upset victory.

First-year middie Justin Morandin led all Blues scoring a hat-trick, while Jason Barnable and Alex Emerson added two goals each and AJ Masson notched a single marker.

The Varsity Blues will now prepare for the CUFLA postseason as they head to London, Ontario on Saturday, October 29 to take on the second-seeded Western Mustangs.
