Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team scored 31 points in the third quarter en route to an 80-63 victory over the Nipissing Lakers on Friday, January 29 in North Bay, Ont.

Fourth-year co-captain Alanna Garner led the Blues, notching a career-high 19 points, while also adding seven assists, five steals and three rebounds on the night.

Third-year guard Rahshida Atkinson added 16 points, six assists and four steals, while Diedre Edwards had 10 points, seven assists and five steals in the win.  

Up 32-28 at halftime, Toronto exploded, almost doubling up the Lakers, 31-16, to put the game out of reach. The third quarter was highlighted by five three pointers from four different Varsity Blues.

Nipissing's Claire Abbott led all players with 21 points, while Jamie Soffer had 14 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

The Blues are back in action tomorrow night as they travel to Sudbury, Ont., to take on the Laurentian Voyageurs. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
