The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team will be fighting for playoff positioning as they host the York Lions in their regular season finale this Friday night (Feb. 13) at Varsity Arena.
The Blues will be honouring four graduating players in a pre-game ceremony before the puck drops at 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are on sale here. The game will also be streamed live via OUA.tv.
Toronto (16-4-3) is guaranteed a top-four finish in the OUA standings, clinching home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Lions, however, have two games remaining as they battle the Ryerson Rams Thursday night. York is 10-9-3 and two points back of the final playoff spot.
Third-year forward Kristi Riseley leads the Blues with 10 goals and nine assists. She is coming off her first career hat trick performance, as U of T defeated Laurentian 7-2 last Sunday.
Fellow forward Sonja Weidenfelder is enjoying a breakout season, having tallied nine goals and nine assists in 23 games. Amanda Ricker leads the squad with 12 assists, while Taylor Day is always a threat to score having tallied 10 points in 16 games.
Fifth-year netminder Nicole Kesteris is in Granada, Spain, representing Canada at the 2015 Winter Universiade. In her absence, second-year goalie Katey Teekasingh has stepped up, starting the past three games holding a .9s0 save percentage.
Veteran forward Lisa Stathopulos leads the OUA with 16 goals and 14 assists for 30 points in 22 games this season. Kristen Barbara and Rianna Langford have tallied 17 and 18 points, respectively.
Megan Lee is the Lions go-to goaltender, holding a .920 save percentage in 22 games played.Â
