MEN’S TENNIS WINS OUA CHAMPIONSHIP

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's tennis team defeated the three-time reigning champion Western Mustangs 5-2 to claim the provincial title as the 2015 OUA championships wrapped up Sunday evening (Oct. 18) at Mayfair Clubs Parkway.

With the win, Toronto earns their first OUA title since 2011 and third in the past eight years. It marks U of T's 33rd provincial title in men's tennis program history, dating back to Toronto's first win in 1912.

U of T opened the tournament with a 7-0 victory over the UOIT Ridgebacks on Friday afternoon. The Blues followed that up with another 7-0 victory on Saturday, this time over the Montreal Carabins, to earn their spot in the gold-medal match.
