The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's rugby team fell 90-5 to the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 7) at Varsity Centre.

With the loss, the Blues drop to 0-2 on the season, while the 2013 OUA bronze medalist Gryphons improve to 2-0.

The Gryphons opened the scoring with back-to-back tries and conversions in the first 10 minutes of the match. The Blues then got on the board with an excellent team effort to get second-year prop Kevin Gallardo in for the try.

Guelph went onto to score 24 more points to take a 38-5 lead into halftime.

The Gryphons were led by four tries from Adam Maahs.

The Varsity Blues return to the field next Saturday, September 20 as they head to Hamilton, Ont., to take on the McMaster Marauders. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
