The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's rugby team fell 82-3 to the Western Mustangs in their 2014 season opener on Wednesday night (Sept. 3) in London, Ont.

It marked the return of U of T to OUA competition after a rebuilding season in 2013.

Western got out to a 14-0 lead in the first four minutes, but Toronto responded with a penalty goal from Tudor Chirila (Toronto) in the ninth minute to make it 14-3.

The Mustangs proved victorious with 12 more tries to win the season opener.

The Varsity Blues return to action this Sunday, September 7 as they host the Guelph Gryphons in their 2014 home opener at Varsity Centre. The action gets underway at 1 p.m.
