The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision to the Ryerson Rams, before falling 3-1 to the host York Lions this past weekend (Sept. 27-28).
In Saturday's contest versus the Rams, Ryerson opened the scoring with a powerplay marker midway through the first period, but the Blues tied it up with a goal off the stick of Paul Van De Velde.
The Rams put the game away for good with three unanswered goals in the second period. Toronto's Dylan Heide attempted to rally the troops with a goal midway through the third, but U of T was unable to mount the comeback.
Garret Sheehan made 16 stops, while Michael Nishi posted seven in the loss.
Tyler von Engelbrechten scored Toronto's lone goal versus York on Sunday, assisted by Michael Markovic.
The Varsity Blues return to the ice this weekend as they travl to Michigan and New York to take on Western Michigan and Canisius College.
