FIELD HOCKEY DOWNS LIONS, GRYPHONS

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team maintained their perfect record with a 4-0 victory over the York Lions and 2-1 win over the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday in Kingston, Ont.
 
Four different players scored in Toronto's first win of the day. Veteran Amanda Woodcroft notched the eventual game-winner in the seventh minute, while Alison Lee and Nikki Woodcroft scored in the 15th and 25th minutes, respectively, to give the Blues a 3-0 lead at the half.
 
Team co-captain Alex Thicke rounded out the scoring with a goal in the 38th minute en route to the 4-0 victory.
 
Nikki Woodcroft tallied her second goal of the game just five minutes into Toronto's game versus the OUA defending champion Guelph Gryphons. The Blues carried that one-goal lead into halftime.
 
Lee added some insurance in the 39th minute, and despite a goal from Guelph's Allison Chute in the 45th, Toronto held on for their sixth win of the season.
 
The Varsity Blues return to action next Sunday, September 28 as they head to London, Ont., to take on the McGill Martlets. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m.
