Alie Brind'Amour-McClure continued her dominant play, notching both of Toronto's goals. The Waterdown, Ont., native has scored U of T's last six goals, including two overtime winners.
Brind'Amour-McClure opened the scoring just 6:59 into the game when she wired a shot into the top corner of the net on the powerplay. Toronto held the 1-0 lead after the first 20 minutes of action.
The Mustangs took the lead with two powerplay goals in the latter half of the second frame. Katelyn Gosling evened the score 12:21 into the period and Carly Rolph gave the Mustangs the go-ahead goal with just 43 seconds to go in the frame.
Western extended their lead early in the third period as Sydney Kidd buried a rebound. Brind'Amour-McClure quickly brought the game back within one, burying a rebound off an April Looije point shot, but that was all the Blues could muster as they dropped the one-goal decision.
Veteran goalie Nicole Kesteris posted 30 saves in the loss.
