The University of Toronto Varsity Blues football team heads to Kingston, Ont., for a Week 7 battle with the Queen's Gaels this Saturday, October 11 at Richardson Stadium.
Â
The game will be streamed live via OUA.tv, starting at 1 p.m.
Â
The two teams have met 180 times since 1887, with Toronto holding a 90-86-4 head-to-head advantage.
Â
Toronto is hungry to get back into the win column after dropping their last three games, two of which came on the road. The Gaels are 0-5 on the year, but are sure to be recharged and ready to go after a bye week last Saturday.
Â
Blues quarterback Simon Nassar is coming off a monster performance, which saw him earn OUA and CIS offensive player of the week honours. The fourth-year pivot went 49-of-62 for 548 yards and three touchdowns last week at Carleton. He easily shattered the previous CIS single-game record of 41 completions, set a new U of T record in single-game passing yards and currently leads the CIS in pass attempts, completions and yards.
Â
Like Nassar, sophomore receiver Llevi Noel sits atop the CIS rankings with 549 receiving yards. 2013 CIS all-Canadian Kevin Bradfield also ranks among the top 10 receivers in the province with 38 receptions for 440 yards.
Â
Fourth-year defensive back Jaiden McBride leads the Blues and ranks fourth in the OUA with 36 tackles. He has also racked up two sacks, one forced fumble and one interception so far this season.
Â
Gaels starting QB is Billy McPhee, who has thrown for 1304 yards and three TD's in five games. Jesse Andrews and Jonah Pataki lead Queen's on the ground with 262 and 268 rushing yards, respectively, while Alex Carrol has tallied 32 receptions for 408 yards.
Â
Linebacker Michael Moore leads Queen's defence with 35 tackles and two sacks in five games this year.
Â
The Varsity Blues return home for their final game of 2014 versus the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday, October 18. The Blues will honour their graduating players in a special pre-game ceremony before kick-off at 1 p.m.Â
